The Out S.M.A.R.T.® Stroke Foundation branched out from its parent company – the RTH Stroke Foundation in 2017 to become its own separate entity due to rapid growth. We have been operating in Southern California since 2014. Our Foundation specifically targets the youth for stroke education and it is for this reason, that our Foundation dons the colors of blue and purple which represent Pediatric Stroke. Our Foundation’s name comes from the belief that we can actually outsmart stroke and lower its prevalence by beginning primary stroke education with the youth, in the classroom – where behaviors are learned, instead of later on in life when their risk factors go up and it is already too late.

According to the CDC and other sources, pediatric stroke now accounts for 10% of all strokes. The growing diabetes epidemic and obesity rates in the youth threaten to undermine years of advancement in stroke prevention and it is for this reason the Out S.M.A.R.T.® Stroke Foundation was created. The Foundation is on a mission to achieve the statistic that 80% of strokes are preventable and we hope this novel idea of teaching stroke education in the classroom can achieve that.
