S.M.A.R.T.® Steps Up Its Operations Before The End Of The School Year

April was a busy month for the Out S.M.A.R.T.® Stroke Team and May – the final full month of the school year is going to be even busier. S.M.A.R.T. closed off April at Torrance High School with Cheryl Ming as a guest speaker (See Image Below.) Cheryl Suffered a Brain Stem Stroke back in 2001 which left her severely debilitated with Locked-In Syndrome. She has since made a recovery, and now holds several degrees including a Masters in Public Health and is a member of the S.M.A.R.T.® Board. Cheryl was happy to relay the details of her story to the students at Torrance and they were eager to hear her speak.

In the first week of May, Out S.M.A.R.T.® Stroke visited two Orange County Schools: Santa Ana Valley and Savanna High School. Instructors Esmeralda and Philip conducted the program in Health Academy Classes to scores of students interested in the medical field. On the final day at Valley High School, our guest speaker and stroke survivor Jeff, relayed the details of his story to the students. Jeff suffered a stroke of the brain stem last October and has since made an astounding recovery (See Image Below).

We would like to thank our guest speakers for taking time out of their days to educate these students and get vital information out on stroke.
