Stroke Survivor Tells His Story During S.M.A.R.T.® Session

On Monday at Orange High School, Stroke Survivor Junior (Faustino) presented his stroke story to dozens of students in Mr. Ricupito’s Biology and Environmental Science Classes. Out S.M.A.R.T.® Stroke had previously held 2 sessions with the students where we educated them on the biology and risk factors of stroke and performed activities with them.

The students were captivated and happy to hear Junior’s story of stroke survival and recovery, where he told them of his immigration from the Philippines and the many struggles he faced in his life that led to his ischemic stroke in his early 50s. His main message to the students was that they should remain healthy, avoid drugs, and be cautious of the “number one silent killer” that he told them was “Stroke.”

Thank you for being our guest speaker Junior, and we hope to see you at another S.M.A.R.T.® Program event soon.
